Just as the disappointments of defeat catalyze athletes to train with even more resolve, so are the most cherished truths in our lives forged in the fires of pain and adversity, and suffering. Through suffering and afflictions, God leads us from the dangers of trust in self to the safety of trust in Him. In fact, through our pain, God works in us a hope and holiness that comes through endurance.
